Analog This: Community Season 5 Premiere, and the Meaning of Greendale

“Community” has had such a troubled run. At the same time, it is also more privileged than most shows. Besides multiple hiatuses and threats of cancellation, the show has seen one showrunner get fired and then re-hired. But the loud voices of the Internet spoke, and Dan Harmon’s vision got to beat on.

And to that I say, “amen.”

I would have been okay if “Community” had gotten canned after its third season. However, if it had ended with the bitter taste of season four, that would not have felt right. So, there is a fifth season of “Community.” And once again, I say “amen.”

Analog This: Five Seasons of Friday Night Lights in One Post

This year, I am grateful that Netflix exists. It took me a while (well over a year, to be not-so exact), but I finally finished this show in its entirety. I was hesitant to watch it at first, because sports have never been my biggest interest and also I've been putting off watching "The Wire" for way too long. But this was the summer I finally decided to finish "Friday Night Lights." What a long yet rewarding journey it has been. "Friday Night Lights" is not just a compelling drama. It changed the way I view people who are different than myself. Most importantly, it made me realize that sports are about more than just competition; sports are about stories. A coach can do more than merely teach a sport. A coach can also be your personal hero. Especially if that coach is played by Kyle Chandler.

I thought it would be hard to write a straight-up review of the entire series. Instead, I figured I'd recap each season to the best of my ability. There will be things I forgot (sorry in advance for the lack of Buddy Jr.), but that is because "Friday Night Lights" accomplished more and introduced more characters than the average drama that goes on twice as long as this show did.

To the best of my ability, here is my recap of five seasons, through good times and bad, of "Friday Night Lights":

Analog This: Ron Swanson Makes a Bobblehead of Himself

I suggest you put everything down now and watch.

No seriously, I know you are all busy. And I understand, that's fine. You probably already have enough Kony 2012 videos to watch. But here is a video that might make you a better person, one where you will learn something you never thought you could.

Here is a video of Nick Offerman, better known to everyone else as Ron Swanson of "Parks and Recreation," making a Ron Swanson bobblehead. Offerman, like the legendary mustached character he plays, is known for being something of a heathen when it comes to technology. Also, woodworking is a hobby of his.  He makes everything from canoes to chairs. It makes me wonder what I could accomplish if social media and the internet were never invented.

This Week, We are a Community: Day 4

This is the most accurate way to describe how the collective "Community" fan base feels about the return of the show tonight:

And, I have included a bonus clip after the jump. "Community" is a show that likes to push the limits of television, and try to top itself every week. I challenge it to come up with a line as good as "my whole brain is crying!":

This Week, We are a Community: Day 1

This Thursday, "Community" comes back from nearly-cancelled purgatory to finish off its third season. To celebrate the return of my favorite show, and to thank NBC for avoiding its third biggest mistake ever (following the cancellation of "Freaks and Geeks" and the Conan fiasco), I've decided to post a clip from "Community" every day until its return. Hopefully, the clip is hilarious and context free. I apologize if every clip I choose somehow involves Donald Glover yelling like a child. Enjoy.

The Season 6 Premiere of 30 Rock Tonight...

...finally gives me a reason to post the clip below. One of the funniest scenes in the show's history, and a disturbing reminder that Don Draper can also impersonate a Jamaican woman:

PS. Save "Community." Seriously
